In response to The Whore's Son Review posted by Critiq: Also, we have a local film club associated with the Toronto International Film Festival's Film Circuit that brings in some foreign films. That's where I got to see Weeping Camel and a few others. One has to be very patient though, since they only run once a month.

Good point. Anyone within easy striking distance of a film festival can have every opportunity to fill their personal quota of foreign films, arthouse films, avant garde, indie, experimental, etc. Festivals are how unknown filmmakers bring their work to the attention of the world distributors.

I get them from my local library, which seems to have more than the video stores sometimes (I'm in Vancouver, Canada). I'm the nerd walking out with my arms full of obscure and foreign films!

One other thought: Anyone who is using Netflix or any other rental source should use this facility to pick foreign films. For sure don't miss "Ryna" which went straight to DVD without a U.S. theatrical release, and the very recent "Riding Alone for Thousands of Miles" from Japan! These are must-see films for mature tastes.
